Astral Swap: You’re Making That Up…

  1. The dimly lit apartment was alive with the sounds of passion-moans and gasps filled the air as the couple on the couch moved in sync, their bodies entwined in a heated embrace. The girl, wearing nothing but a pair of strappy heels, arched her back, her skin glistening in the soft light. Her boyfriend matched her fervor, his hands roaming freely over her curves. The invisible spectators, Alex and
Ethan, hovered above, their attention now drawn to the raw, primal scene unfolding beneath them. "Whoa," Alex breathed, a mix of surprise and amusement in his tone. "Looks like we interrupted something more interesting than a cuddle session." Ethan chuckled, his spectral form bobbing slightly with mirth. "Definitely not what I expected. But hey, if they're gonna go at it like rabbits, we might as well take advantage." "Advantage?". The couple oblivious to the two invisible presences watching from above. Ethan grinned, his excitement palpable even in his incorporeal state. "Who cares? Look at them, dude. This is perfect. We can test the spell right now." Alex shook his head. "We were supposed to swap our bodies, not hijack strangers. No less while they're fucking." Ethan gave a dramatic sigh. "Okay, genius, here's the problem-you need two physical anchors to swap. We left our bodies behind, so we have to jump into someone else to get back. Otherwise, we're stuck drifting in the astral forever." Alex's gut twisted. "You're making that up." Ethan shrugged. "You reallywanna gamble on that?" Alex's pulse—if he still had one-thumped in his ears. He could already feel the distant pull of his abandoned body weakening. Maybe Ethan wasn't lying. Maybe this was their only way back. "Come on, Alex, we don't have time." As if to make Alex more doubtful, the girl cried out, a high-pitched keen of pleasure that pierced the air. Her boyfriend responded with a deep groan, their voices intertwining in a sensual duet. "Fine," he muttered. "I'll take the guy." Ethan let out a sharp laugh. "Yeah, no. That's not how this works." "What?" "You can only jump into a body that matches
your astral energy," Ethan explained smugly. "You? You're vibrating way too differently from him. You'll get rejected instantly." Alex narrowed his eyes. "And you're not?" Ethan smirked. "What can I say? I align better with him. The spell's rules, not mine." Alex turned his gaze to the girl, still curled into her boyfriend's embrace, unaware of the two spirits looming above her. "So it's her... or nothing?" "Yep," Ethan said. "And the longer you wait, the harder it'll be to latch on. You want to be a lost soul, floating around like some horror story ghost? Be my guest." Alex clenched his jaw. This
was insane. This was wrong. But the thought of being stranded in the astral forever? That was worse.
He exhaled-an old human habit that meant nothing here-and let himself drop toward her...
